Key Stage 3

The work in Years 7, 8 and 9 is based on the requirements of the National Curriculum and the National framework for English. However, we believe that we have developed a programme that is innovative, exciting and above all, challenging to meet the needs of our students. The modules studied in each Year can be viewed below.

Students are issued with yellow exercise books in which to record the skills associated with a particular genre of writing/text type, using FAP as the starting point for any text investigation. A yellow A4 wallet folder is issued to students so that they can store their major assessment pieces and this should be kept in school. However, should a parent request to see their son or daughter’s folder, than the student may take the folder home for a period of forty-eight hours.

Until the end of Year 7, students are taught in their form groups. Thereafter, students are placed in sets according to their ability and aptitude for the subject. We also have two additional groups in Year 7 for those students who are working towards Level 4 on entry.
