Key Stage 3

Year 7
Students create an ePortfolio (web page) and link all their ICT work throughout years 7, 8 and 9.
During year 7, students will use basic features of word processing, spreadsheet, database and control (Logo) software. By the end of year 7, most students will achieve a Level 4.

Year 8
In year 8, students complete a series of mini-projects that build upon skills learnt during year 7. They create an interactive presentation (touch-screen application) and use more advanced features of generic software packages. By the end of year 8, most students will achieve a Level 5 although there are opportunities for students to achieve some aspects of Level 6.

Year 9
In year 9, students complete 2 projects. The first is a spreadsheet project to design, develop and test a Ticket Booking System for a theatre. This unit gives students the opportunity to explore and use advanced features of spreadsheet software. They will also design a ticket and poster for an event or show and use database and word processing software to create a mail merge letter. The second project uses control software (Flowol) to create a working system for a Pedestrian Crossing. The latter part of year 9 is devoted to learning useful ICT skills and preparing students for the Online KS3 ICT test. By the end of year 9, most students will achieve a Level 7.
