Key Stage 3
The Key Stage 3 Drama Curriculum strives to introduce learners to a range of Drama skills and techniques. These are taught through a diverse and exciting programme of Schemes of Work that cover theatre history, genre and style, scripted work and devising. Learners are encouraged to participate in practical work at all times and to make links with other curriculum subjects, particularly English.
As a department we also recognise the importance of developing students’ social and communication skills. We provide opportunities to work in a range of mixed ability and gender groups in a safe and trusting environment. We believe that all students have a valuable contribution to make in the Drama classroom.
Students are assessed at the end of each unit in creating, performing or evaluating Drama. A system of levels from 1-8 is used to monitor achievement and progress.
