Drama
Welcome to the Drama Department
This is one of the most exciting and dynamic areas of the school. Since acquiring Performing Arts Status the department has gone from strength to strength. We work closely with other departments in the faculty, delivering a range of exciting and varied courses for students. We aim to provide students with a range of opportunities in Drama, in and out of the classroom. As a faculty we have produced many highly acclaimed productions such as Les Miserables, Barnum, Anything Goes and as a department we produce several productions a year ranging from traditional plays like ‘Our Town’ to new writing through The National Theatre’s Shell Connections programme. We offer other extra-curricular opportunities such as our Big Little Theatre company for gifted and talented students in Years 6- 8 and Technical Theatre club, which trains students to operate our very sophisticated sound and lighting systems, all of which are managed and taught by our Performing Arts technician.
In October last year a new Performing Arts block was completed of which we are very proud. Inside, the main area can easily be converted to two teaching rooms using flexible panelling. The whole of the interior has been especially painted black to absorb light and the large control room will house the latest 'state of the art 'sound and film technology.Teaching Staff
